Music for the film "Les Oiseaux Tonnerre" by Léa Mysius.
Completed in early 2015, the film is a short drama set in the marshlands of the Médoc in south-west France that explores the strange relationship between a twin brother and sister as they hunt birds in the swamp.
This project is an interesting example of how working the score generates a sample set, a sound palette that can be sculpted around the action.
We also were looking to create something that would integrate well with the weather sounds of the marsh : creaking metal, faint rattling, tonal scrapes all come and go in threatening swells.
For this release, the original 12 minutes from the score have been built into a larger ensemble including unused tracks, guided improvisations by the double-bassist Nicolas Decoster and some sparse elements of field recording and foley.

Total runtime 27 minutes.
